We are glad to announce that Ms Rumiana Rahneva has joined our team. She is a highly qualified lawyer with large experience.

Rumiana Rahneva has graduated Law faculty in Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” as well as the faculty in International Economic Relations in the University for National and World Economy – former High Economic Institute “Karl Marx”- Sofia.Her professional interests are in the field of Commercial, Corporate and Contractual law. She is specialized in the sphere of Banking and Financial law. She has profound knowledge regarding Ethics and Compliance in large corporates.Prior to her admission to the Bar, she has a long practice as Head of “Legal” Department as well as Ethics and Compliance Officer in banking system and in different activities related to foreign trade, tourism and energy sector.

Mr. Ullrich Guenther Schubert – Chief Executive Officer of BNP PARIBAS S.A.  – Sofia branch makes the following recommendation, written on May31, 2009: “Ms. Rahneva has been working with BNP PARIBAS S.A.  – Sofia branch, former BNP –Dresdner Bank ( Bulgaria) AD since August 1999 as Head of Legal Department.She  was also entrusted the role of a Secretary to the General Assembly and Supervisory Board until including 2007.As in 2001 the bank was looking for a competent candidate for the newly established position of an Ethics and Compliance officer, the choice fell again on Ms Rahneva.During the years Ms. Rahneva reported to me as Chief Executive. I have noticed her excellent command of English, her strategic/tactical thinking, her fast learning skills and articulate way to educate and manage staff. She is, no doubt, a critical thinker, tough negotiator and focused on the large picture…a typical leadership character.

Andrey Delchev and Partners – Eurolex Bulgaria provided legal advice to the World Bank and the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works in respect of the Municipal Infrastructure Development Project funded with EUR 101.2 million. Part of this amount shall be used for the completion of the dams for drinking water supply Luda Yana, Neikovtzi and Prlovditzi and for the rehabilitation of Studena Dam. It is expected that the successful implementation this project will result in removing the restriction on the water supply for more than 200 000 people and improving the quality of drinking water for approximately 96 500 people.

Eurolex Bulgaria was the legal consultant of Bridgecorp Jsc on the acquisition by the client of the parent companies of LANDMARK PROPERTY MANAGEMENT S.A., one of the biggest companies on the real estate market in Bulgaria (the Buyer’s consultant was Credit Swiss Securities and CMS Cameron McKenna). Bridgecorp Jsc is owned by the current managers of Landmark Bulgaria – Richard Macdonald and Tanya Koseva-Boshova. The portfolio of the group consists of 22 properties in Bulgaria and 1 in Turkey, with a total lease area of 92,300 sq. m, and 61,400 sq. m of land for building purposes. The assets of Landmark include also several office buildings in Sofia and Varna, a commercial park in Plovdiv, land intended for the construction of a golf course project and a university building in Istanbul. Amongst the main lessee in the Landmarks buildings are Post Bank, Nova TV, Deutsche Bank, DHL, CMS Cameron McKenna, Baumax, Deloitte, EVN, Unica, and Alexandra Video.

The value of the deal is 210 million Euros, which makes it the biggest transaction on the Bulgarian real estate market so far.

Recently the Company acquired a new spacious office. It represents a detached building with yard areas and serving parking. That building is intended to become the main Sofia office and to get together the whole Company’s team. Nowadays the lawyers of Eurolex Bulgaria Ltd are situated in two separate offices.

The cocktail party on the occasion of the 10-th anniversary of the Company passed with very great success. More than 200 friends and partners of Eurolex Bulgaria met in one of the most prestigious Capital halls – the Ball hall of the Central Military Club. On the background of pleasant music and lovely culinary temptations the Procurator of the Company Mr. Andrey Delchev cut up the jubilee cake decorated with the Company’s logo. During the party more than BGN 7 000 were collected and donated after that to a Bulgarian child needing urgent therapy.

The managing partner of the Company Mr. Andrey Delchev had the pleasure of meeting the American president Mr. George Bush on his recent visit to Bulgaria. The issues discussed at the meeting were connected with the democratic development of Bulgaria during the last years, young generation’s role, education system development etc.  

With EUROLEX BULGARIA LTD experts participation in the region of Bourgas town successive two significant projects with subject acquisition of large agricultural land plots whose function should be changed for the purpose of modern trade and logistic complexes construction have been initiated.

Recently at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, the competent Bulgarian Authority on development of Water Supply and Sewage Infrastructure, Water Purification and similar activities a working group for preparation of a new law concerning Water Supply and Sewage services has been formed. EUROLEX BULGARIA LTD has been included within the working group as legal adviser that is an evaluation for its leading role in this sector legal services implementation. 

At the end of the last year the Company was engaged in preparation of package of laws between a Bulgarian Municipality and a foreign investor specialized in Waste Water Treatment Plant Construction. The concept is establishment of a joint venture for purification plant building and operation. It is one of the first projects of such type where the purification plant will be constructed with investors’ funds but not with State Budget money or European funds. The Municipality’s contribution to the joint venture represents municipal land intended for the purification plant construction and the foreign investor participates with funds and know-how.

Recently, Eurolex Bulgaria Ltd has successfully completed the purchase of about 20 000 square meters regulated land plot situated in the town of Plovdiv together with the commercial site built thereon for one of its foreign clients. The deal is the forth alike acquisition for the same client – large foreign company, one of the world leaders in construction and management of urban and out-of-town commercial centers.
